Time Expressions: Word List and Examples
Learn B1-level expressions for talking about time, schedules, and sequences of events.
Word List
eventually (in the end, after some time), meanwhile (at the same time), beforehand (before something happens), afterward, in advance, on time, ahead of schedule, behind schedule, punctual, at the last minute, from now on, sooner or later, in the meantime, once (as soon as), by then, up until, ever since, in due course (at the appropriate time), nowadays, these days, back then, in the past, currently, temporarily, permanently, briefly, occasionally, frequently, periodically, simultaneously (at the same time), consecutively (one after another).
Examples:
- We arrived ahead of schedule, so we had time for coffee beforehand.
- He was late again — he always does everything at the last minute.
- Nowadays, most people book their travel in advance.
- The two events happened simultaneously, so we had to choose one.
Remember: «eventually» (finally, after a delay) and «actually» (in fact) are commonly confused by Spanish speakers, since «eventualmente» in Spanish means something closer to «possibly» — a classic false friend.
