Making Comparisons Vocabulary: Word List and Examples Learn B1-level expressions used to compare people, things, and ideas beyond basic comparatives and superlatives. Examples: Her approach is similar to mine, whereas his is completely different. This phone is slightly more expensive, but it has far more features. Unlike her brother, she prefers quiet evenings at home. The two proposals are roughly equal in cost, but this one is considerably faster. Remember: «whereas» and «while» both introduce a contrast between two clauses in a single sentence, useful for comparing two facts formally without starting a new sentence.
