Clothes

Clothes

Vocabulary Explanation

Clothes vocabulary covers the words we use for the things we wear every day, from everyday items like a shirt, pants, and shoes to accessories like a belt, scarf, and sunglasses. Some clothes go on your upper body (shirt, sweater, jacket), some on your lower body (pants, shorts, skirt), and some cover your whole body (dress, suit, uniform, pajamas). Footwear includes shoes, boots, sandals, and slippers, while accessories like a watch, wallet, purse, and bag are not clothes but are often worn or carried with an outfit. Look at the pictures in the quiz below and match each one to its correct name.

Examples:

  1. She is wearing a red dress and black boots.
  2. He put on his jacket because it was cold outside.
  3. I need new sneakers for the gym.
  4. Don’t forget your gloves and scarf in winter.
  5. He wears a suit and tie to the office.

Remember: some clothes are singular (a dress, a jacket) and some are always plural (pants, shorts, pajamas, sunglasses).
